Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that the focus in the sports world this week is on Denver and our beloved Broncos, after winning Super Bowl 50 on Sunday. Well it’s only appropriate that this week will see big headlining events from three of Denver’s most talented acts in the local dance music scene, and lucky for you they are each on different nights. While all three headliners have very different styles, they all have oodles of talent in their respective genres. 2015 was a huge year for option4, SoDown, and Decadon, and 2016 is looking to be even bigger.
option 4 | Thursday Feb. 11 | The Bluebird Theater
Arguably Colorado’s most successful house music producer/DJ over the last three years, option4 will be headlining The Bluebird Theater tomorrow, Thursday, February 11th. This will be Brennen Bryarly’s biggest headlining event in Denver to date, as he steps up up from the club scene to the larger capacity of The Bluebird. With support from local live act Rose Quartz, Night Supply labelmates Keepers, and the always reliable vibes of Mosis, this night has the potential to be one of the best “lower” key shows of the year. You can purchase tickets here.
SoDown | Friday Feb. 12 | Cervantes’ Other Side
The next night, Friday Feb. 12th, the local focus shifts to Cervantes’ Other Side, where electro-funk-soul-all that-good-stuff artist SoDown will be having his own taste of the limelight. Of all three artists we’re focusing on, Ehren Wright (SoDown) has perhaps the most uniquely-Colorado sound. He taps right in to that soulful electro vibe that is best-described as “Colorado”. Although a large part of his sound is incorporating live saxophone into his production and live sets, he can still hold his own when it comes to the more digital aspect of DJing. Friday’s event will be in honor of his new EP release, and will also include the likes of Stone Soul, Homemade Spaceship, Spectacle, Unfold, and the cutting edge production of Pickles Visuals. Purchase tickets to SoDown here.
Decadon | Sunday Feb. 14 | The Bluebird Theater
Last but certainly not least, local bass boss Decadon will be throwing what will most likely be the rowdiest set of all three, this Sunday, Feb. 14th, also at The Bluebird. Known for staying true to his dubstep roots, Donnie Miller knows how to bring the bass. While his sound is heavily rooted in dubstep (and metal for that matter), this will not be your stereotypical set of cookie cutter womps or sleepy, dark, minimal wubs. He has promised it will be unlike anything his fans have seen before, and will include the man himself on live guitar. Incorporating live elements into electronic music has become quite common, which we’re glad for, but few dubstep/bass artists have attempted it, and even fewer succeeded. But if all goes as promised, Decadon will do just that this Valentine’s Day. The show will feature support from the heavy hitting sounds of Paws, Tortuga, and Spectral going b2b with Endo. Get your tickets here.
We’re all about the local fans, artists, and Colorado scene in general, and we couldn’t be more proud of all of the above artists. They are just three more testaments to how special of a thing we have going here.
