List’n Up: Top 5 ‘Hidden’ Colorado Festivals

Colorado is ever-growing and so is her music scene, hosting several destination festivals like Sonic Bloom and Arise to name a couple. But there are a number of equally enchanting and amazing festivals that might be lesser-known to out-of-staters. Although some may not be your traditional camping festivals, these are nonetheless exciting events that are worth marking in your calendar. Here are the top 5:

5. Global Dance Festival at Sports Authority Field at Mile High (July 21-22)

From the same folks who bring you Decadence NYE every year, the annual GDF was created in 1999 and originally called ‘Rave on the Rocks’. So if you’e looking for a few nights close to home, you’d best get tickets fast cause this is a big deal! Plus, just look at this years line-up.  Excision b2b Datsik, Kaskade, Porter Robinson, & Zhu just to name a few.


4. RowdyTown VI at Red Rocks (Sept. 29-30)

A personal favorite, RowdyTown is hosted by Colorado’s very own Big Gigantic, and it is exactly what the name implies; ROWDY! An absolute must go, RowdyTown will not disappoint – Big Gigantic never does. Not to mention Keys n Krates will be there as well, another personal favorite, so this show is again not one to miss!


3. Endless Sky Campout (July 29-30)

Just the name itself sounds lovely and peaceful. It’s at an undisclosed location, but you know they keep the best spots a secret. Perhaps most enticing, it’s being hosted by Afterhours Anonymous and Mahesh Presents. If you’ve ever been to an AA event, you can imagine the scale of amazement this will be. If you haven’t, get ready to get your socks knocked off.


2. Denver Summer Showcase (Aug. 10-13)

A very unique and fun approach, Denver Summer Showcase will host numerous shows each night at several different locations spread throughout Denver. Hosted by UNstructured Sounds, the original structure and set-up of the event is thrilling, as each location is at a clever and interesting place with killer music. Don’t miss out on this adventure.

1. Overload Festival at Summit Music Hall (June 17)

An event certain to bring the most hardcore ravers from across the country, Overload Festival makes its debut festival this year at Summit Music Hall. In conjunction with 303 Family, Denver Hard Dance and Soda Jerk, this festival is bound to be massive and bring the hardest and fastest styles.
