List’n Up: Five Shows to see this Week (Sep 11-17)

Hard to believe, but it’s actually a fairly slow week in the Colorado dance music world. I guess everyone is just resting up before Rocktober. But that’s not to say this week doesn’t have some quality events for you to shake your tail feather to. Jam, bass, and trance is the name of the game this week.

5. Seven Lions (Red Rocks afterparty) at Gothic Theater – Thursday

Melodic bass and dubstep producer Seven Lions keeps the party going late night after opening up for Above & Beyond at Red Rocks. Expect this afterparty to cater more to the bassheads than the trancefam.

4. Bass Invasion, ft. Mala at The Black Box – Saturday

We were under the impression that every show at The Black Box was a bass invasion, so we can only imagine what they have in store for this one. Proper low-end veteran Mala headlines night 2 of this two night event.

3. Lotus at Boulder Theater – Friday

Lotus, most likely Coloradans’ second favorite “jamtronica” group behind only STS9, make their return to one of their home states this weekend. Saturday sees them take the stage at Red Rocks, but the real party may very well be the night before at Boulder Theater.

2. Above & Beyond at Red Rocks – Thursday

Surely the #1 event this week for real EDM heads, A&B make their highly-anticipated debut headlining performance at Red Rocks tonight. If you slacked off and didn’t get ticket don’t worry, they’re still available for now.

1. Lotus at Red Rocks – Saturday

With half of their home base in Colorado now, Lotus have really developed a dedicated following here among jam band fans and electronic music fans alike. Nosaj Thing and Com Truise round out a solid lineup. Should be a fun dance party to help wrap up Red Rocks season.
