[LISTEN] DJ9 Releases Hot New Jungle Mix

Photo: LifeOptimizer.org

We’ve been a fan of Alan Sumler, aka DJ9, since last December when he sent us a promo mix to play our January Ignition Thursdays event at The Black Box. We became an even bigger fan after seeing him throw it down live at said event. This past week he put out a brand new jungle mix and it’s our pleasure to present it to you. In addition to names like Brian Brainstorm, DJ Hybrid, Saxxon, and Ed Solo, the mix also includes many tracks from Liondub & Marcus Visionary’s NYC-based label Liondub International. As Sumler puts it, “the vibe is ragga jungle meets dancehall & reggae, and even includes recordings of artists straight out of Kingston, Jamaica, including Mr. Lexx & Suku Ward.

“At the same time, the mix includes well known junglists like Bladerunner, 6Blocc, & Rumble, while also weaving together dubstep, trap, and even a Bassnectar-inspired mix at the end.” But it’s not all heavy hitters. Sumler also gives a nod to the local Denver scene, featuring multiple tracks and a flip from local bass talent Kyral x Banko. Dive in and enjoy this extensive mix by listening and/or downloading from any of the links below. Also below is the tracklist for the mix.

Lastly, you can catch DJ9 going back to his house music roots this Thursday, Feb. 1 at The Black Box for our special tribute to house music called HOMAGE: The Evolution of House MusicAlan will be getting the party poppin’ from 9pm until 10:30pm, playing all the golden oldies of house music from the glorious 90s. Shane Beebe will then be taking over and playing stuff from the 2000s, and McFeelit will be closing the night out, playing choice tracks from 2010 onward.

And if house music isn’t your bag (for some crazy reason), don’t worry; we’re doing it all over again on March 1st with HOMAGE: The Evolution of Bass Music, where you will be able to catch DJ9 getting back to some early bass music, including ragga jungle, jump up, and liquid beats.
