The Widdler, a long time favorite of many a Denver basshead, returns to the 303 this Saturday, December 28th, for a good ol’ low frequency hoot nanny.Adding to an already palpable level of excitement, it was just announced that The Widdler himself was voted “Best DJ of 2019” in the annual duploc.com Dubstep Awards, so in the eternal wise words of Rick James, “It’s a celebration, bitches” (reason #1).
His sound spans from chill reggae dub to dark, wobbly bass, making him the perfect fit for Denver’s Black Box. The last time two times he was in Denver he was also at The Black Box – 4/20 of this year, and Halloween 2018. You know Denver and The Black Box go big on those days, so if you’re still on the fence about seeing 2019’s best dubstep DJ, that should be a pretty big clue.
Born in Tel Aviv and hailing from Austin, TX, The Widdler is on Denver’s own Sub.mission record label, so it’s always a family affair when he comes to town. To boot, main support act Sicaria Sound [Deep Medi Musik] finished third in voting in duploc.com’s Dubstep Awards, so getting to see them share the stage with The Widdler in the same night will be an extra special treat (reason #2). The female duo out of London have a current Rinse FM slot (voted #2 radio show – reason #3) and have made guest appearances on BBC Radio 1 & 1xtra, Boiler Room, NTS, & Red Bull Radio.
Last but definitely not least, we gotta give a shout out to Sub.mission. The homies took home duploc’s award for Best Promoter (reason #4). It’s not every night you get to see 2019’s best dubstep DJ, who just so happens to be on a Denver label, play alongside the year’s third best act, at a show promoted by 2019’s best promoter. So grab those tickets before it’s too late.RSVP on Facebook
