HARD Red Rocks may be getting the lion’s share of attention tomorrow, but when it comes to getting the best bang for your buck, those honors go to the good folks at Souls In Action, Red Bull Sound Select, and The 1up – Colfax. For only $3, you can catch Catch Lungs, Basecamp, and araabMUZIK tomorrow night at The 1up – Colfax for this month’s installment of the Red Bull Sound Select. The RBSS takes place on a monthly basis in a dozen cities, with a handful of “curators” for each town. Denver’s curators are Souls In Action Entertainment, DJ Low Key, The Underground Music Showcase, and Holy Underground, with SIA curating it this time around. This month’s edition originally featured up-and-coming London rapper Jay Prince, but unfortunately that fell through due to visa issues.
Jay Prince’s “replacement” may come as a surprise, as araabMUZIK is far-more know and will certainly draw more attention based on the name alone. While we absolutely love us some hip hop here at ELCO, we are naturally biased towards electronic music, and as such, we could not be more amped for this show. araabMUZIK is known as the “MVP of the MPC”, and for good reason. He puts his live drum machine skills on display at every show, leaving the crowd in awe of his speed and precision every time. Additionally, he has announced plans to premier some brand new music at this show. If you haven’t seen an araab show, for only $3, this is the one not to miss.
Supporting araabMUZIK is Denver’s newest Sound Select member, the talented Catch Lungs. Catch has been making a name for himself in the hip hop game, with a track recently premiered on This Song Is Sick, and his welcoming to the Sound Select crew is well-deserved. Not only can he spit rhymes, he can also sing, play the guitar, and produce. He is indeed one of Denver’s finest hip hop artists.
Rounding out the lineup is a live electronic trio who have been making waves in their hometown of Nashville, and beyond. Basecamp’s production is diverse and their sound is trend-setting. Couple that with all the energy of a live show, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a time.
If you do plan on heading to HARD, don’t fret, the Sound Select should be going strong by the time HARD wraps up. It’s completely free to RSVP to the event and guarantees you only pay $3 at the door instead of $10. But beware, entry is granted on a first-come first-serve basis, even with the RSVP.
