Shaun Frank – Main Room (Friday 3/2)
Shaun Frank is much more than just two first names. He began his music career as the singer for two different Canadian rock bands, first Crowned King, then The Envy. Upon the breakup of The Envy, Shaun finally made his foray into electronic music. That was definitely the right choice because Shaun has had a spectacular career thus far. His music has been released on the genres biggest labels, from Spinnin Records to Armada to Ultra Music to Dim Mak. Frankly, I think Shaun is just getting started.
Lea Luna – LVL (Friday 3/2)
Who is Lea Luna? For starters, she’s a triple threat (DJ/Producer/Vocalist). Since before CDJ’s were the norm, Lea has been deep in the underground, blending her beats with her higher ground vocal tastes. She is a walking encyclopedia of dance music history, familiar with many subcultures and trends within it across many decades. DJ Mag, amongst other publications, has recognized her knowledge and enlisted her to become one of their writers. Take all that knowledge and you get on fire DJ set.
Morten – Main Room (Saturday 3/3)
Next up comes Morten, the Danish purveyor of dank beats. He has this quote that reads as follows, “If music be the food of love, play on.” I have no idea what that even means, but I like it. If you know, please clue me in. Either way, Morten is a force to be reckoned with. He started his journey as a DJ at age 14, climbing his way up to the professional level by age 19. Pretty cool if you ask me. He has since moved to Los Angeles, taken up Thai kickboxing, and continued to make the music which allows him to travel the world. His latest track, Ride Around, is a guitar infused, feel good, summer-type song with beautiful vocals by Connor Darvid. On the flip side, he has tracks like Hypnotized, a trap banger which almost prompted me to headbang a whole into my wall.
Slumberjack – LVL (Saturday 3/3)
This Australian duo has been spitting out hot fire since the first track they released, an edit of Touched. Their unique production style leans on the side of future trap, yet manages to defy classification. Morgan and Fletcher are doing their own thing. Their debut album Fracture was one of my favorites of 2017. These dudes are gonna continue to do big things. Very excited to see these two on the LVL stage.
