When was the last time you saw a female headlining performance in electronic music? While I could cite many examples, it is not the predominant trend. Fortunately, the ladies are making big moves in the scene. Female producers like NERVO, Mija, Anna Lunoe, Ducky, Whipped Cream, The Librarian, J.Phlip, and more are taking the lead in their respective genres and providing a female figure to look up to. The ladies behind NERVO have long been holding it down as international superstars, touring the world to the tune of over 200 live shows a year. This Friday, they bring the party to Temple.
NERVO is a pair of twin sisters, Miriam & Olivia, from Melbourne, Australia. Their entry into the music industry was through songwriting, producing content for starts like Ke$ha, David Guetta, and The Pussycat Dolls. Not a bad start. From there they launched their production career and the rest is history. They have since risen to become the highest paid female DJ’s in the world, not to mention ultimate fashion gurus.
Additionally and most impressively, Mim & Liv came out to take a strong stand against breast cancer with the #TTY (Titties Titties Yeah) movement after their mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.
We feel an obligation to help which is why this October we are launching our own awareness campaign titled TITTIES TITTIES YEAH (#TTY) to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We will be wearing our Pink SOL REPUBLIC headphones to raise awareness, partnering with Electric Family to sell custom NERVO bracelets, and also posting prevention and early detection information across our social media channels. We will also be teaming up with Fuck Cancer and hosting some parties where all of the proceeds will go towards funding mammograms and providing free breast cancer screenings.
So come on out to Temple this weekend and show some support for women in electronic music, good vibes, and of course, the titties.
