[LIST’N UP] Five Colorado EDM Events to See This Week (Jan 29-Feb 5)

Wow, it seems like the year just began and yet January is already over! Don’t feel bad though, there’s plenty of events to take your mind off the passage of time. As usual, ELCO has you covered with our top picks for the week. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed with all of the shows being released for 2018, especially with yet another jam packed year for Red Rocks. Luckily, ELCO will keep you up to date on all of it, just head over to the events page for more!

HOMAGE: The Evolution of House Music, ft. McFeelit, Shane Beebe, & DJ9 @ The Black Box – Thursday

Image may contain: 23 people, people smiling, meme and textHosted by yours truly, we will be leading The Black Box crowd through a progression of house music this Thursday. If you are fed up and tired of the same old new music (see what we did there?), then this is the show for you; three seasoned local DJs will be spinning an eclectic mix of music for you and the best part is, its free! We’ll also be giving away free tickets to DJ Shiftee with Mob Tactics at The Black Box (Feb. 2) AND KRANE: Fallout Tour w/ MYRNE, Kyral x Banko (Feb. 9). We may have a couple other tricks up our sleeve too…

FiskEDM: Liquid Sky featuring music of GRiZ & Big Gigantic – Friday

No automatic alt text available. Now this event is a little out of the ordinary but still very worth your attention. If you have not been to a FiskEDM event, you’re missing out. The students of CU Boulder take over the Fisk Planetarium for a night and put on an incredible light and laser show. This Friday the soundtrack will be set to the music of GRiZ and Big G. Having been to this and several others in the past, I can’t recommend it enough!

Break Science with ProbCause & LYFTD at Fox Theatre – Friday

No automatic alt text available.Colorado is quite familiar with Break Science and ProbCause and LYFTD are no strangers either. Frequenting the Mile High City and regularly touring with the Pretty Lights live band, Break Science knows how to lay it down. Maybe even kill two birds with one stone and catch an amazing light show at the planetarium beforehand!

Bonnie X Clyde @ Temple Nightclub

The infamous Bonnie x Clyde have gotten the chance to live out their dreams and create truly unforgettable experiences. If you’ve ever seen them live, you’ll know it’s true. They exploded on the scene with their own “vocal bass” style in 2015, with their hit single “The Ride”. They kicked off last year performing on the main stage at Insomniac’s New Year’s Festival “Countdown” in California, which was followed by performances at Life in Color Miami, CRUSH LA, Okeechobee, Middlelands, EDC Japan, EDC Las Vegas, and Sun City Music Festival. Catch one of the few male-female duos in electronic music at Temple this weekend for a truly unforgettable night.

For a change of pace, check out Angelz in Temple’s second room, LVL. He’s played at major festivals and popular clubs around the world and works alongside labelmates Gerry Gonza, Malaa, Maximono, Mercer, DJ Snake, Dombresky and Tchami.

EXCISION @ 1st Bank Center – Friday and Saturday

Image may contain: plantKing X is back for another 2 night knockout with the mind-blowing Paradox at 1st Bank Center. I won’t even go in to details here, Excision is a legend and the lineup is insane for both days. Even if you don’t bleed dubstep it is worth going just to see him; the Paradox is unreal and the PK Sound rig is beyond comparison. Check out my review from last year if you need more convincing.

About Alan Hirtzel 20 Articles
Hey there, I'm Alan. I grew up in Cincinnati, then following high school I joined the United States Marine Corps. While I was stationed in Hawaii I went to my first electronic show. Since then it's been a long and wild ride. As a metal-head in high school, I naturally gravitated to the heavier side of EDM like dubstep and hardstyle. However, tastes are changing and I also enjoy the mellower side of life. I moved to Denver upon leaving the USMC, and I'm currently attending Metropolitan State University studying Environmental Science, where I also discovered a calling for writing.
