With barely enough time to recover from yet another dance marathon that was Cloak & Dagger Music Festival, Club Vinyl gears up for another big one this week for its weekly Steam Wednesdays. And by big, we mean big. This week marks the return of house music’s favorite, most mysterious masked character; Malaa. They made their Denver debut at Club Vinyl last January playing to a full house, and tomorrow promises to be even more packed to the gills.
While this show would likely have been a sell out with just Malaa on the bill, the other name up there will just about guarantee it as such. Joining Malaa on tour is an act of equal popularity within the house music scene at the moment, who goes by the name of Rezz. Young, beautiful, and talented both in the studio and behind the decks, the 21 year old Niagara Falls native has quickly made a name for herself by blending together dark and spooky elements of various genres, with undeniable similarities to Trent Reznor. The Denver stop comes just less than two weeks after the release of her EP, Something Wrong Here, which was released through Deadmau5’s Mau5trap Records. Say what you want about his personality, but you can’t hate on his tastemaking.
Malaa also just put out another banging, dark house track. A collaboration with Tchami (who was once thought by many to be Malaa themself), entitled Prophecy. Check out that track and Rezz’s new album below, and make sure to get your tickets asap, as this one is almost sure to sell out.
