On Thursday, October 27, Giraffage and XXYYXX, two of the most forward thinking artists in the electronic music scene, will take over the Ogden Theatre in Denver for an intimate show.
Charlie Yin, better known as the dreamy electronic producer and beatmaker Giraffage, has always challenged himself to create new sounds while still staying loyal to his own. His music ranges from smooth R&B influenced beats to otherworldly tunes that caress the mind and Kawaii beats that are just plain old fun (“Tell Me”). Currently, Yin has been gaining a lot of traction, with Apple featuring one of his songs on iPhone commercials and critics such as Pitchfork, Fader, and XLR8R praising him for his boundary-challenging music (Bring Me Your Love, feat. THEA). He’s no stranger to large festivals and opening for huge names such as Porter Robinson, however, his headlining show at the Ogden Theatre will provide a much truer vision of his music.
Marcel Everett is a producer from Florida that goes under the moniker XXYYXX (yes, you just say the letters). His sound can be described as a trippy combination of hip hop and smooth synths, likened to that of Shlohmo and Clams Casino. “Doing drugs on a freeway underwater” is how Everett himself describes it. Check out You Are Why I Am Invisible for a taste. Only 20 years old and already having released his critically acclaimed self-titled album in 2012, Marcel is a part of the budding youth musician community that is taking over the electronic music scene right now. Pretty wild that he wouldn’t even be able to get into some of the venues he’s played if it wasn’t for his music!
